Scholar Criteria for enrolment to Kensio House:
Foundation Phase (Grade R – Stage 3)
- Scholars should be reasonably independent in activities of daily living, including feeding themselves, grooming, being toilet trained, and being able to verbally communicate.
- Any progress reports – such as those from an Educational Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Therapist, along with the latest centre/school report – should be shared with us upfront for review.
- Where daily medication is required, a full list of medication and signed consent must be provided in advance; this remains the parent’s responsibility to ensure is accurate and up to date. Morning medication should be administered at home, as we are only able to administer top-up medication during the school day.
- Should your learner make use of any assistive devices or aids, such as a wheelchair, weighted vest/blanket, spectacles, or hearing devices, please let us know in advance so that we can ensure these are used optimally throughout the school day.
Intermediate Phase & Senior Phase (Stage 4 – 12 and Kensio Beyond)
- Able to follow an adapted curriculum, with support where needed
- Able to communicate needs or discomfort: verbally, or in another way that works for them
- Sensory vulnerabilities (noise, light, touch, etc.) shared with us upfront, so we know how to support them
- Anxiety triggers and what helps them calm down shared with us upfront
- Any relevant reports (Educational Psychologist, OT, Speech Therapist, latest school report) provided before enrolment
- Medication list and signed consent provided in advance, if applicable
- For Kensio Beyond: able to manage their own deadlines with some independence
- Information of assistive devices advised up front (noise cancelling head set, wobble cushion, etc)
