Beyond Pathway

An internationally recognised alternative academic pathway

The Beyond Programme is an alternative academic pathway designed for learners who wish to obtain a matric equivalent or qualifications that are internationally recognised and locally accredited. All courses are accredited by ATHE and Qualifi, recognised by OFQUAL (UK) and SAQA (South Africa).

Assignment based

Two-Year Pathway

(For Students Without IGCSE)
Students aged 16 years or older who have not yet completed IGCSE will follow a two-year Business and Management pathway leading to a Matric Equivalent at NQF Level 4, with progression options to Levels 5 and 6.

  • Year 1: 60 credits
  • Year 2: 60 credits
  • Total: 120 credits (NQF Level 4 equivalent)

Ideal for students beginning their post-Grade 10 or Year 10 journey. Upon completion, students may continue to NQF Levels 5 and 6 through the same two-year, 120-credit structure per level.

One-Year Pathway

(For Students With IGCSE)
Students who have successfully completed IGCSE may enrol directly into the accelerated one-year pathway at any level (NQF 4, 5, or 6), achieving the same qualification outcomes in half the time.

  • Duration: 1 year per NQF level
  • Total: 120 credits per level

Perfect for students ready to fast-track their academic and career goals through Levels 4, 5, and 6.

Online Learning Pathway

(Flexible Format for All Students)
The Beyond Programme is available as a fully online learning option across all NQF levels (4–6), offering the same curriculum, assessment standards, and qualification outcomes as the on-campus pathways.

  • Full onboarding session to introduce learners to the online platform
  • Self-paced, independent study with weekly facilitator check-ins for academic support and progress monitoring
  • Complete access to all course materials, resources, and assessments online

Flexible Duration: Based on the learner’s age, prior qualifications, and learning capabilities, each NQF level (4, 5, or 6) may be completed in either one or two years, ensuring each learner progresses at a pace that supports their academic and personal development.

Recognition: All study modes (on-campus and online) lead to the same ATHE Diploma qualifications (120 credits per level, NQF 4–6 equivalent) with identical grading standards (Pass, Merit, or Distinction).

Admission Criteria

The ATHE Level 3 Diploma in Business and Management is a 120-credit international
qualification that is recognised in South Africa and can be converted through SAQA to a Matric Equivalent (NQF Level 4). Students may achieve this qualification with a Pass, Merit, or Distinction grade.

Please note: All learners are required to undergo a screening process before acceptance
into the programme. This ensures that each student is placed in the most suitable
academic pathway for their development and future goals.
